Summary

In this 3 hour workshop, participants will learn the benefits of and exactly how to begin promoting organizations, businesses, projects and themselves with free online tools.  This workshop will focus upon utilizing LinkedIn and Facebook.

Participants will gain an understanding of the following:

  • The professional value of LinkedIn and Facebook,
  • What outcomes you can expect from strategic use of LinkedIn and Facebook,
  • Issues surrounding personal vs professional social networking, privacy concerns, and message control,
  • Social networking strategies,
  • How to set up and use LinkedIn and Facebook,
  • How to integrate online and offline networking efforts, and
  • How maximize your time spent on social networks.

You should attend this workshop if you:

  • are somewhat aware of social networking tools,
  • believe there may be value to social networking, and
  • either do not have user profiles in Facebook or Linkedin or have profiles but are uncertain how to gain any professional benefit from the applications

Logistics:

  • We provide the laptops but bring your own if you like.
  • Please arrive with Linkedin and Facebook accounts already established (its ok if all you have is a username and password!).  This is a hands on workshop.  You will be learning real time on your account!
